More About the Album
Apokatastasis bring the heavy with their debut album The Consecratory Secretion, effortlessly weaving together elements of blackened death metal and brutal death metal.
Fans of OSDM should find Malus’ vocal style familiar as he presents us with Ross Dolan (of Immolation) style guttural vocals with an even more guttural brutal death metal style added to the mix. Malus pairs this with a blend of melodic atmosphere laden blackened death metal instrumental work and groove laden brutal death metal heaviness and technicality.
On paper the marrying of these two styles may sound unusual but I assure you that they blend far more easily than you may think. Each play off the other’s energy and balance each other out, ensuring that the album is as catchy and immersive as it is brutal and punishing. Most impressively though the entire album is written, performed, and recorded by Malus, a fact that almost seems hard to believe given how full the album sounds and how proficiently each element is performed.
If you’re a fan of death metal in any capacity then you won’t want to miss The Consecratory Secretion.
